The fact that this lands in the middle of a horrific war makes the book even more burning. At the same time, it is "a coincidence" but hardly a complete surprise for a photographer who has so consistently directed his lens towards the reflections, mental and symbolic, of control, surveillance and limitations of freedom that prevail in Gaza, as well as the dream of overcoming them. A work characterized by a multifaceted visual methodology that renounces any form of a stand-alone overview and omniscient storytelling role. Instead, it is carried forward by stories through metaphorical elements and fragments that encapsulate an inescapable absence, with an openness and presence that frees the viewer's gaze. The dream of an open sky, or possibly the shattered dream of one, is in this context neither a general nor a nut metaphor. It was the highest reality-based hope of countless future departures for Palestinian Airlines.
