Between 2023 and 2024, the 89 Refugee Asylum and Emergency Aid Centers were documented and juxtaposed with photographs from 500 local archives across Denmark, where the 2015–2018 "refugee crisis" is largely absent. This project explores how these spaces can foster solidarity and preserve refugee experiences. Through collaboration, the archive continues to evolve, shaping which stories are told and which remain unspoken.

This photography and textile installation “In the Past We Made History “ features 1,400 images juxtaposing Denmark’s migration history with documentation of 89 now closed Refugee Asylum and Emergency Aid Centers. Selected by 22 former residents through shared gatherings, these photographs reflect personal memories and experiences. Later sewn into textiles, they form an evolving tapestry of interwoven timelines and narratives.

IN THE PAST WE MADE HISTORY, Tina Enghoff and Kent Klich in collaboration with Anastasija ( Nastija) Kiake, is on show 18/1-27/4 2025 at Fotografisk Center, Copenhagen.
